IT’S TIME TO
IN LOVE WITH SAMOYEDS
Northmoor Samoyeds came into existence in 1983 with the purchase of Northmoor Princess Raina aka Raina, as a Christmas gift. Raina was a wonderful girl from the famed Silveracres bloodlines. She was sweet and incredibly smart. Raina was the ruler of the roost for many years and kept everyone in line. She never did anything wrong and was an eternal Princess. Raina left us in October of 1996 at the age of 13.
In 1985, Northmoor Prince Nikolai, aka Nikolai, was purchased as a companion for Raina. Nik was a rolly polly puppy who just adored Raina from the beginning. Although Raina's true love was a mix breed named Rocky, Nik was a close second. Nik had a mind of his own as many Sammy's do. He loved to run and play and come when he was called only when really asked. As a baby Nik began basic obedience classes to perhaps curb his Sammyness! The only thing he succeed in was becoming the class clown and darn near not graduating. He didn't seem to understand why you would sit there with no food involved. How silly. Although Nik was never shown in conformation, he easily could have finished. He optimized the correct Samoyed in type and attitude. On a summer day in 2001 Nik came over to the rocking chair to say his last goodbye, went into the yard, laid down and left us at age 16. Nik's image is still used today as the face of Northmoor.
Although all our dogs are very special, Nik and Raina will always be the standard for which all the others are judged. Nik and Raina continue to be behind the pedigrees we have today including or very special AKC/UKC Ch. Northmoor Harlequin Hoax.
Northmoor Samoyeds is located in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and is a joint effort of the Mother/Daughter team of Kathleen and Lisa.
Our dogs have been Rocky Mountain Raised since 1983. Our dogs are raised as show, sledding and companion dogs. We actively participate in conformation showing through the American Kennel Club and United Kennel Club. Sledding is participated in on a fun type basis and is not for titles or recognition, simply the enjoyment of the dogs and their people.
Our kennel is small with only a few Samoyeds so they can be given the proper attention they need and deserve. They are pets first and show/breeding dogs second. We do however place some of our puppies in family homes where they are loved and will be bred in the future. We retain breeding rights to those dogs but feel its better for them to be in a one-on-one family situation ensuring a happy pet life.
